SEEING S.T.A.R.S.: A NEW SEAT MOUNTING SOLUTION FROM THOMAS BUILT BUSES
Are you looking for a simpler, more cost effective mounting system for wheelchair-equipped buses? Are you tired of trying to keep your track flooring clean? Consider the new Saf-T-Anchor Removable Seat Mounting System, otherwise known as S.T.A.R.S.
S.T.A.R.S. is a brand new mounting system from Thomas Built Buses. Rather than using traditional track-mounted seats,
S.T.A.R.S. uses wall-mounted seats together with anchors built into the floor. This system eliminates the hassle of measuring and consulting with a chart to figure out just where the seats need to be installed. Now, they can only be reinstalled in their exact, original position.
Because the track system is not necessary, that also means that there are fewer fasteners to deal with, which only adds to the ease of use. In fact, seats can be installed or removed in under five minutes, which means that you can devote your valuable time to doing all of the other things that you need to get done.
The simplicity of the S.T.A.R.S. mounting system means that it is also more cost effective. Now, there is no upcharge for the track- mounted seat frame and no need for continuous track. This system allows for the use of pockets, Slide ‘N’ Click, or track segments.
For a benefit that is unique to our climate in Pennsylvania and Ohio, this also reduces all of the cleaning that goes along with continuous track. There will be much less ice, dirt, and salt to clean out when it collects in that track.

MYERS EQUIPMENT RECOGNIZED FOR 20 YEARS AS A THOMAS BUILT BUSES DEALER
DALLAS (TX) – At the beginning of the month, the Myers Equipment team spent two days in Dallas for the annual Thomas Built Buses Dealer Meeting. The meeting provided the dealer network with a wrap up of the previous year, as well as opened the door for what’s coming in the year ahead.
Things concluded with an award ceremony where Thomas recognized the top dealers from each region, as well as the top service trainers and salesmen. The ceremony is always opened up with recognition of dealers celebrating anniversaries with Thomas, and 2016 marked the 20th year for Myers Equipment.
As we celebrate 20 years with Thomas, we also recognize 80 years in the school bus industry this year, as we were founded in 1937 as a Carpenter Body Works dealer. Family owned and operated for 80 years is something we are extremely proud of, but we know that we did not get here alone, as it has been the loyalty of our customers that we owe this longevity to. Thank you for your continued support!
WHAT’S NEW WITH PARTS AND SERVICE?
In addition to some of the continuous improvements taking place at our facility, we’ve recently made some additions to our Parts and Service teams to help make your customer experience better!
In our Service Department, we’ve hired Kerry Beeson as our Shop Foreman and Service Writer. To some, that may sound like a familiar name, as Kerry was our Service Manager for 16 years and we’re beyond excited to have him back as a part of our team.
We’ve also been able to add an outside service technician on the road. Some of you may have seen Truman Boylen out and about at your facility, but don’t worry if you haven’t, he’s still making his rounds through our territory. Truman is currently working on wrapping up some recalls, with the hopes of providing some outside service to help keep your fleet on the road.
Our Parts Department has added two new positions as well, an outside parts salesman and a back-parts counterman. With the addition of these positions, we’re looking to help better streamline the customers experience with receiving parts.
Jason Neal is our new outside parts salesman, and he is currently working his way through Northeast Ohio with plans on getting through Western Pennsylvania in the next two weeks. This position is still a work in progress, but we feel it to be a great asset in making sure you receive the parts you need, when you need them.
In order to help keep our parts salesman available to you, we’ve brought in Rick Henning to man our back-parts counter. This will allow us to be more efficient with our parts-to-service process and get your bus back on the road faster.
