The latest from Myers Equipment and Thomas Built Buses

March 2018

Customers have seen successful results with two of Thomas Built Buses’ newest features. The implementation of both the Stay Warm regeneration parameter and the S.T.A.R.S. mounting system is making people’s lives easier across the country.

The Stay Warm parameter allows for increased active regeneration, which decreases Diesel Particulate Filter maintenance issues. Thomas Built Buses has been the industry leader in getting the word out about this Cummins parameter, in an effort to help as many of our loyal customers as we can. As a result of this parameter, many people have seen their DPF issues reduced by anywhere from 75-100%.

David Walton of Prince William County Schools said, “We have had phenomenal results with the new Stay Warm feature. We now only have one-off regeneration issues, a dramatic reduction from where we used to be.” Patty Waites of Hamilton Southeastern Schools commented, “Since the parameter change, we have had zero DPF issues. We just love it.” The parameter can be activated on any Cummins engine model year 2010 or newer and comes standard on any new Thomas Built Bus.

The S.T.A.R.S. mounting system is an alternative to track seating. The seats are wall-mounted and are attached to anchors in the floor. That way, customers can eliminate the hassle of measuring where seats need to go and the headaches that come with keeping tracks clean. Nathan Summers at Hamilton Southeastern said, “We like how it [the S.T.A.R.S. mounting system] keeps the floors clean and more organized and our team loves how quickly and easily removal and installation is compared to track seating.” The S.T.A.R.S. system is exclusive to Thomas Built Buses. We would love to show you the S.T.A.R.S. demonstration seat – at your place or ours!

We have just announced our Parts Sale for the rest of March and all of April. This time around, we have cut prices on lights, battery door latches, and mirrors.  Also, we have extended the sale on wiper blades, heater motors, heater filters, washer nozzles, and all Braun and Ricon parts for the rest of March. Please give us a call with any parts needs that you might have!

We are putting a renewed focus on on-site customer training. If you or anyone you know is interested in training (and a free lunch) at your place or nearby, we would love to help.  Give us a call and ask for our service trainer, John Dominic, to set up a training session at a time that is convenient for you.

Recently, we have had quite a few customers ask us if we accept trades. The answer is yes, in almost all cases.  Let us sweeten the deal for your new bus by buying an older one and driving it away for you. Of course we prefer premium Thomas Built Buses, but we will make you a deal on just about anything!

Just as a reminder, if you are looking to purchase some new school buses for next school year, the earlier the better. As we get closer and closer to summer, our build dates are pushed further and further back. The last thing that we want is for you to be rushing as the school year approaches!
